The signet ring is a classic piece of jewellery for both men and women. This 9ct rose gold Marquise shape manages to combine a unique shape with elegance and once hand engraved will make a very personal statement. As with all the Rebus signet rings the Marquise is hand-crafted by the award winning Rebus craftsmen.
This Rebus Marquise gold Signet Ring is individually crafted from 9ct rose gold; (375 parts of gold per thousand). Rose gold is also known as red gold and pink gold. This shade became popular in Russia at the beginning of the nineteenth century and is also referred to as Russian gold. Made by adding copper to yellow gold, we usually use a subtle pink, blush-like tint for our rose gold signet rings. The higher the copper content, the stronger the red in the colour and the shade can vary slightly from carat to carat. Each precious metal signet ring is independently tested at the London Assay Office and comes with feature hallmark under the head; this is your guarantee of the precious metal content through the practise of third party independent hallmarking.
Your lovingly crafted handmade ring will look perfect as a standard 16mm x 11mm face, our best-selling gentleman's size, or the 13mm x 9mm size for ladies or a slender gentleman's hand. All the Marquise signet rings have been designed with tables thick enough to take a deep seal engraving.
Deep seal engraving
Traditional deep seal engraving is the most popular method of engraving signet rings. We create your design by carving deeply into the metal, hand engraving the design in reverse.
Once the seal engraving is completed, we use the engraved signet ring to produce a 3d wax impression - the seal. Your ring will arrive presented in a beautiful gift box, with an encapsulated impression of your design and a wax taper to make your own seals. If you would prefer for us to engrave your design as it is seen on paper, i.e. not in reverse, please let us know by using the comment box found in your shopping bag. read less
Surface cut engraving
As with seal engraving, surface engraving is produced by hand, using handheld gravers. In fact, it's the same technique used by traditional bank note engravers.
Unlike seal engraving, we don't carve deep into the metal - instead, we create the design by cutting hundreds of lines of varying widths and depths until the design comes to life. This method is ideal for cufflinks and it also looks effective on signet rings, but does not have the same longevity as seal engraving. read less
