A traditional colour and shape like this 9ct yellow gold Rebus Cushion Signet Ring provides a broad canvas for details, whether it's a coat of arms, family crest, heraldic emblem or any design that is significant to you. All Rebus signet rings are hand made by our award winning engravers and goldsmiths.
Of the three carats of gold we offer, 9ct (375 parts of gold per thousand) has the lowest gold content. As a result, it is the toughest of the three - the higher the gold content, the softer the metal. We would recommend 9ct gold if you'e very active and your hands take a lot of wear and tear. Yellow gold, the element's natural colour, is by far the most traditional colour for signet rings. Yellow gold is usually alloyed with copper and silver to strengthen it and give the jewellery longevity. The shade of the gold depends on its gold content and 18 carat gold has a richer yellow colour than the paler 9 carat gold.
This shape, inspired by the history and heritage of the signet ring, works beautifully in a 14mm x 12mm face, our best-selling gentleman's size, the 16mm x 13mm for larger hands and the 12mm x 10mm for ladies or a slender gentleman's hand. Our delicate 11mm x 9mm face size is specially designed for smaller hands.

Deep seal engraving
Traditional deep seal engraving is the most popular method of engraving signet rings. We create your design by carving deeply into the metal, hand engraving the design in reverse.
Once the seal engraving is completed, we use the engraved signet ring to produce a 3d wax impression - the seal. Your ring will arrive presented in a beautiful gift box, with an encapsulated impression of your design and a wax taper to make your own seals. If you would prefer for us to engrave your design as it is seen on paper, i.e. not in reverse, please let us know by using the comment box found in your shopping bag. read less
Surface cut engraving
As with seal engraving, surface engraving is produced by hand, using handheld gravers. In fact, it's the same technique used by traditional bank note engravers.
Unlike seal engraving, we don't carve deep into the metal - instead, we create the design by cutting hundreds of lines of varying widths and depths until the design comes to life. This method is ideal for cufflinks and it also looks effective on signet rings, but does not have the same longevity as seal engraving. read less
