A beautiful Platinum stone set signet ring, a Rebus stone set signet ring in the rarest of precious metals, is a heritage piece that is well worth the investment. Framing the stone of your choice and your bespoke, hand engraved emblem, your ring is designed to become a treasured piece worn for many, many decades. Designed with solid backs, giving the stones the strength and stability they deserve, these signet rings last a lifetime.
Platinum is the heaviest of precious metals, almost twice as heavy as 14 carat gold, but its real appeal is in its enduring bright white colour. Platinum doesn't tarnish and maintains its natural colour throughout its life, making it the perfect choice for an exclusive heirloom piece of jewellery. At 95% pure, platinum is also hypo-allergenic.
Also known as Martyr's Stone, Bloodstone is a dark green to dark bluish-green stone, with specks of red Jasper. These specks resemble the blood stains that give the stone its name. Every stone is different and the spots can be very sparse or very densely packed. Bloodstone is largely found in India, as well as Brazil, China, Australia and the United States. One legend tells that the Bloodstone first formed when drops of Christ's blood stained the jasper at the foot of the cross. It was also used as an amulet, designed to stem bleeding in a wounded patient. Some said it was capable of turning the sun red, causing thunder and lightning.
The 14mm x 12mm face is our best-selling gentleman's size, the 16mm x 13mm is for larger hands and the 12mm x 10mm would suit a lady's hand or a slender gentleman's little finger. Our 11mm x 9mm face size is specially designed for smaller hands. These measurements refer to the overall face size, rather than just the stone.
Deep seal engraving
Traditional deep seal engraving is the most popular method of engraving signet rings. We create your design by carving deeply into the metal, hand engraving the design in reverse.
Once the seal engraving is completed, we use the engraved signet ring to produce a 3d wax impression - the seal. Your ring will arrive presented in a beautiful gift box, with an encapsulated impression of your design and a wax taper to make your own seals. If you would prefer for us to engrave your design as it is seen on paper, i.e. not in reverse, please let us know by using the comment box found in your shopping bag. read less

Surface cut engraving
As with seal engraving, surface engraving is produced by hand, using handheld gravers. In fact, it's the same technique used by traditional bank note engravers.
Unlike seal engraving, we don't carve deep into the metal - instead, we create the design by cutting hundreds of lines of varying widths and depths until the design comes to life. This method is ideal for cufflinks and it also looks effective on signet rings, but does not have the same longevity as seal engraving. read less
